Cake shop exploration : Primrose Bakery.

42 Tavistock street, Covent Garden, London, WC2E 7PB. Open Mon - Sat 10am - 7:30pm, Sun 12pm - 5pm | www.primrose-bakery.co.uk

Admittedly, I'm no stranger to the delicious bakes of Primrose Bakery, having devoured their scrumptious cakes at many a cake show in the past few years, but I'd never managed to visit one of their lovely cake shops before, so I couldn't miss out the opportunity to swing by their lovely Covent garden store on a recent London trip.

They're responsible for fuelling our love (and obsession) with the humble cupcake, purveyors of delicious baked goods and some of the prettiest cupcakes that you'll ever see,Primrose Bakery's Covent garden shop is a most welcome stop off in one of the cities busiest areas, standing out like a pretty pastel yellow beacon, with plenty of scrumptious treats tucked up inside!

It's pretty painted décor certainly makes for a delightful addition to the busy streets of Covent garden, and the loveliness continues inside with not just a counter full of pretty bakes, but a delightfully sweet décor inside too, making for a lovely stop off to over indulge in some cake.

The cakes of course are as pretty as ever, not just photo perfect for their delightful baking books, each cake is finished off to perfection, making for cakes that are as pretty as they are utterly scrumptious!

Every day you can expect to find a staple menu of firm favourites amongst their selection of cupcakes and cakes, with good ol' classics like vanilla, chocolate, carrot cake and red velvet constantly on their daily menu of treats, with some tasty variation every day of the week, from seasonal treats to tasty bakes such as toblerone, earl grey and peanut butter cupcakes, yum! Free from options are also available too!

Oh my visit there was plenty of classic favourites, amongst a cheeky selection of chocolate caramel, coffee and walnut, & sticky toffee cupcakes, but having already over indulged on their speciality flavoured cupcakes in the past, I decided to see what their take on the classics were like, going for some sweet mini vanilla and chocolate cupcakes. Despite their petite size they certainly were packed with plenty of flavour, making for a delightfully sweet, moist, light and very scrumptious bake, with a lovely light flavour.

To accompany my tasty cupcakes I went for an Earl grey tea, (again, one of my staple favourites!), you can find a full menu of coffees, teas and soft drinks if you want to sit in and enjoy your cakes.

A lovely stop off, and only a short walk away from the bustling Covent garden market so there's no excuse not to pop in, I'll most certainly be back for more tasty bakes on my next trip!
